The results of pilot research “NIKA” among intellectuals with hypodynamia.
During June - August 2008 1600 workers of Russian joint-stock company Northwest Bank of Sberbank in age from 20 up to 65 years were examined. Polling on authorized questionnaire, blood intake for biochemical and genetic researches, blood intake and conservation for cytokine level definition have been performed. The definition of glucose, lipoprotein of high density, triglyceride levels, structural polymorphism of renin-angiotensin cascade's gene identification ( I/D gene polymorphism of angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE), G/A gene polymorphism of angiotensinogen, А1166С gene polymorphism of angiotensin II receptor and e2, e3, e4- gene polymorphism of apolipoprotein Е have been carried out as well.

The disease is considered from four different perspectives – pathogenesis, at-risk populations, clinical scenarios, and treatment and management – providing the reader with a concise overview of OSA in comprehensive and up-to-date chapters. This book will prove a useful reference for pulmonologists and other specialists concerned with the management of this disease, and may help stimulate further research initiatives.
